This watercolor painting depicts Despot’s Gate at Kalemegdan, situated on a high level that offers a commanding view of the park below and the flowing Danube River. The interior of the gate is dark, creating a striking contrast with the light that penetrates through, illuminating the structure in a dramatic manner. Through this piece, I aimed to capture the ethereal beauty of this historical landmark, emphasizing the interplay between light and shadow. This painting reflects my fascination with the architectural heritage of Belgrade and the captivating atmosphere that these ancient structures embody.
